This Sesame Ginger Tofu packs all the flavor. Toss it on top of some rice and broccoli then drizzle with the zippy, creamy Wasabi Ranch and you’ve got a new dinner staple.
Many years ago I worked in a fast casual dining restaurant that served a similar appetizer that inspired these flavors. I don’t know what made me think of that dish that I hadn’t eaten in probably 15+ years but I sure am glad I did! This version is vegan, easy to make and so delicious.
Making The Sesame Ginger Tofu
When I’m making tofu for this type of dish I prefer high protein super firm tofu. It crisps up nicely in the air fryer and holds the heavy sauce well. For this recipe, press the tofu for about 20 minutes and then marinate for another 20 in a mixture of tamari, sambal oelek and fresh lime juice. Another 15 minutes or so in the air fryer and this tofu is crispy and delicious.
To make your ingredients go just a bit further, reserve the tofu marinade and add it to the blanching water for your broccoli. It gives the broccoli an extra kick of flavor.
The tofu is delish, but the sticky, rich sesame ginger sauce is the real star here.
Sesame Ginger sauce is simple to make by combining butter, brown sugar, tamari, ginger, garlic, sesame oil & fresh lime juice. Simmer for about 30 minutes until thick and sticky then you’re ready to assemble your dinner!
Toss the tofu in the Sesame Ginger Sauce serve over rice and broccoli, drizzle with wasabi ranch. Finally, top with sesame seeds and green onions. Then it’s time to eat!
